2:1 不知羞耻的国民哪，你们应当聚集。趁命令没有发出，日子过去如风前的糠，
Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2:2 *耶和华的烈怒未临到你们，他发怒的日子未到以先，你们应当聚集前来。
Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you.
2:3 世上遵守耶和华典章的谦卑人哪，你们都当寻求耶和华。当寻求公义谦卑，或者在耶和华发怒的日子，可以隐藏起来。
Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger.
2:4 迦萨必致见弃。亚实基伦必然荒凉。人在正午必赶出亚实突的民。以革伦也被拔出根来。
For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
2:5 住沿海之地的基利提族有祸了。迦南，非利士人之地阿，耶和华的话与你反对，说，我必毁灭你，以致无人居住。
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
2:6 沿海之地要变为草场，其上有牧人的住处，和羊群的圈。
And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
2:7 这地必为犹大家剩下的人所得。他们必在那里牧放群羊。晚上必躺卧在亚实基伦的房屋中。因为耶和华他们的神，必眷顾他们，使他们被掳的人归回。
And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
2:8 我听见摩押人的毁谤，和亚扪人的辱骂，就是毁谤我的百姓，自夸自大。侵犯他们的境界。
I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.
2:9 万军之耶和华以色列的神说，我指着我的永生起誓，摩押必像所多玛，亚扪人必像蛾摩拉，都变为刺草，盐坑，永远荒废之地。我百姓所剩下的，必掳掠他们，我国中所馀剩的，必得着他们的地。
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
2:10 这事临到他们，是因他们骄傲，自夸自大，毁谤万军之耶和华的百姓。
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.
2:11 耶和华必向他们显可畏之威。因他必叫世上的诸神瘦弱，列国海岛的居民各在自己的地方敬拜他。
The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
2:12 古实人哪，你们必被我的刀所杀。
Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.
2:13 耶和华必伸手攻击北方，毁灭亚述，使尼尼微荒凉，又乾旱如旷野。
And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
2:14 群畜，就是各国（国或作类）的走兽必卧在其中。鹈鹕和箭猪要宿在柱顶上在窗户内有呜叫的声音。门槛都必毁坏。香柏木已经露出。
And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
2:15 这是素来欢乐安然居住的城，心里说，惟有我，除我以外再没有别的。现在何竟荒凉，成为野兽躺卧之处。凡经过的人都必摇手嗤笑她。
This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
西番雅书2参考
趁神尚未发怒，要赶快做的是──
2:1-3 只要离开罪恶，谦卑自己顺从神，人们还有机会避免神的审判。旧约先知宣布了毁灭的消息，但也提供了逃脱和获救的惟一办法：脱离罪恶，与神同行（参弥6:8）。
因为罪，非利士人的四城市受罚，我们若犯罪……
2:4 这里提到的是非利士境内的四个城市。非利士位于犹大西南地中海沿岸。非利士人打从约书亚时代就是以色列人的宿敌，以残酷著称。他们拜偶像，又不断羞辱以色列，所以神要审判这些城市。这四城是非利士五个省会中的四个。第五个城迦特可能已经被毁。
基利提人名字的由来……
2:5 基利提族是位于犹大南部的非利士人的一族，同其他非利士人移居到了巴勒斯坦。以前，他们曾在克里特岛居住，他们的名字可能由此而来。
神的赏罚分明，对他忠心的人再少，他也不会忘记，这给我们 ……
2:7 所有的先知预言到毁灭的时候，都讲到“剩下的人”。这是一小群对神忠诚的百姓，是被神领回故土的人。尽管神说要毁灭犹大，但他也应许要拯救那“剩下的人”。神要持守他原先跟亚伯拉罕所立的约，要保守他的后代（参创17:4-8）。神是圣洁的，他不允许人继续犯罪。神对自己所应许的是信实不变的，他不会永远向自己的儿女生气，不论是以色列人还是我们；神因爱他的儿女，总为他们的好处著想。
与神百姓为敌的，怎能有好下场！
2:8 摩押人和亚扪人住在犹大东面，常常毁谤和攻击犹大。这些国家敬拜基抹和摩洛（参王上11:7）。摩押王曾在城墙上把长子献为燔祭，藉以止住侵略（参王下3:26-27）。这些国家十分邪恶，苦待神的子民，所以，神要审判他们。
信神的人常受嘲讽，有时我就不愿讲自己是基督徒……
2:8-11 犹大遭受邻国摩押和亚扪的毁谤和辱骂，但神提醒他们他听见了毁谤和辱骂（2:8），毁谤者要因其骄傲而受到惩罚（2:10）。很多时候，全世界似乎都在毁谤神和忠于神的人。当你受到羞辱嘲讽时，要记住神听见这一切，并且会回应。按著神的时间，正义最终必得伸张。
摩押──所多玛──，亚扪──蛾摩拉，中间的关联是──
2:9 摩押和亚扪人，是罗得同他女儿从罪恶之城所多玛和蛾摩拉灭顶之灾逃出来之后所生的后代（参创19）。非常讽刺的是，摩押和亚扪也像神惩罚那罪恶之城一样，成为永久的荒地。所多玛和蛾摩拉已彻底被毁，它们的确切位置至今仍不知晓。
对古实人的审判何时临到？
2:12 古实位于红海的南端，当时控制著埃及。没有人能逃脱应得的审判。到了公元前605年巴比伦人占领埃及时，古实人便遭神的刀宰杀（参赛18章；结30:9）。
南有古实，北有亚述，他们的命运都握在神的手中──
2:13 西番雅提到南方最大的国家，然后又提到从北边入侵的亚述。亚述虽然国势正走下坡，但仍为当时最大的军事强国。它统治世界达三个世纪，曾摧毁任何挡道的强邻。尼尼微是规模宏大的首都，被认为固若金汤，然而它正像西番雅所预言的，于公元前612年被巴比伦人焚毁。接著巴比伦成为下一个世界级的强国。
尼尼微鼎盛一时，终于荒凉，当年谁又能想到呢……
2:13-15 在尼尼微遭毁灭之前十年做出沦陷的预言，就好比今天预言东京、纽约或莫斯科会遭毁灭一样的叫人难以置信。尼尼微是古代近东的文化、科技和名胜的中心。那里有大型图书馆、建筑物和庞大的灌溉系统，并由此产生了城市的绿地。其城墙有九十六公里长，三十公尺高，超过九公尺宽，并有一千五百座塔形要塞。这样一座大城被彻底摧毁了，难怪在历史上它的存在一直是个问号。直到十九世纪，考古学家费了很大的工夫，才发现它的遗址，尼尼微所在地果真已变得乾燥和荒凉，如同沙漠一样。
