18:1 耶稣说了这话,就同门徒出去,过了汲沦溪,在那里有一个园子,他和门徒进去了。

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

18:2 卖耶稣的犹大也知道那地方。因为耶稣和门徒屡次上那里去聚集。

And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

18:3 犹大领了一队兵,和祭司长并法利赛人的差役,拿着灯笼,火把,兵器,就来到园里。

Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

18:4 耶稣知道将要临到自己的一切事,就出来,对他们说,你们找谁。

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

18:5 他们回答说,找拿撒勒人耶稣。耶稣说,我就是。卖他的犹大也同他们站在那里。

They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

18:6 耶稣一说我就是,他们就退后倒在地上。

As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

18:7 他又问他们说,你们找谁。他们说,找拿撒勒人耶稣。

Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

18:8 耶稣说,我已经告诉你们,我就是。你们若找我,就让这些人去吧。

Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:

18:9 这要应验耶稣从前的话,说,你所赐给我的人,我没有失落一个。

That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

18:10 西门彼得带着一把刀,就拔出来,将大祭司的仆人砍了一刀,削掉他的右耳。那仆人名叫马勒古。

Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

18:11 耶稣就对彼得说,收刀入鞘吧。我父所给我的那杯,我岂可不喝呢。

Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

18:12 那队兵和千夫长并犹太人的差役,就拿住耶稣,把他捆绑了。

Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

18:13 先带到亚那面前。因为亚那是本年作大祭司该亚法的岳父。

And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.

18:14 这该亚法,就是从前向犹太人发议论说,一个人替百姓死是有益的那位。

Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

18:15 西门彼得跟着耶稣,还有一个门徒跟着。那门徒是大祭司所认识的。他就同耶稣进了大祭司的院子。

And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

18:16 彼得却站在门外。大祭司所认识的那门徒出来,和看门使女说了一声,就领彼得进去。

But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.

18:17 那看门的使女对彼得说,你不也是这人的门徒吗。他说,我不是。

Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.

18:18 仆人和差役,因为天冷,就生了炭火,站在那里烤火。彼得也同他们站着烤火。

And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

18:19 大祭司就以耶稣的门徒和他的教训盘问他。

The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.

18:20 耶稣回答说,我从来是明明的对世人说话。我常在会堂和殿里,就是犹太人聚集的地方,教训人。我在暗地里,并没有说什么。

Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

18:21 你为什么问我呢。可以问那听见的人,我对他们说的是什么。我所说的,他们都知道。

Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.

18:22 耶稣说了这话,旁边站着的一个差役,用手掌打他说,你这样回答大祭司吗。

And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

18:23 耶稣说,我若说的不是,你可以指证那不是。我若说的是,你为什么打我呢。

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?

18:24 亚那就把耶稣解到大祭司该亚法那里,仍是捆着解去的。

Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

18:25 西门彼得正站着烤火,有人对他说,你不也是他的门徒吗。彼得不承认,说,我不是。

And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

18:26 有大祭司的一个仆人,是彼得削掉耳朵那人的亲属,说,我不是看见你同他在园子里吗。

One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?

18:27 彼得又不承认。立时鸡就叫了。

Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

18:28 众人将耶稣从该亚法那里往衙门内解去。那时天还早。他们自己却不进衙门,恐怕染了污秽,不能吃逾越节的筵席

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

18:29 彼拉多就出来,到他们那里,说,你们告这人是为什么事呢。

Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

18:30 他们回答说,这人若不是作恶的,我们就不把他交给你。

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

18:31 彼拉多说,你们带他去,按着你们的律法审问他吧。犹太人说,我们没有杀人的权柄。

Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:

18:32 这要应验耶稣所说,自己将要怎样死的话了。

That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

18:33 彼拉多又进了衙门,叫耶稣来,对他说,你是犹太人的王吗。

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

18:34 耶稣回答说,这话是你自己说的,还是别人论我对你说的呢。

Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

18:35 彼拉多说,我岂是犹太人呢。你本国的人和祭司长,把你交给我。你作了什么事呢。

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

18:36 耶稣回答说,我的国不属这世界。我的国若属这世界,我的臣仆必要争战,使我不至于被交给犹太人。只是我的国不属这世界。

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

18:37 彼拉多就对他说,这样,你是王吗。耶稣回答说,你说我是王。我为此而生,也为此来到世间,特为给真理作见证。凡属真理的人,就听我的话。

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

18:38 彼拉多说,真理是什么呢。说了这话,又出来到犹太人那里,对他们说,我查不出他有什么罪来。

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

18:39 但你们有个规矩,在逾越节要我给你们释放一个人,你们要我给你们释放犹太人的王吗。

But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

18:40 他们又喊着说,不要这人,要巴拉巴。这巴拉巴是个强盗。

Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

竟有这许多人来捉拿耶稣,他们是谁?
18:3 这些差役可能是圣殿里的差役,他们是犹太人,得到宗教领袖的授权,可以处理一些小事和捉拿犯人。这些士兵则可能是罗马军队的小分队,他们没有亲手逮捕耶稣,却伴随差役,以确保事情不致失去控制。

没有严寒,哪有梅花扑鼻香,基督徒的生命会例外吗?
18:4-5 耶稣被捕,门徒各人的生命将会大大改变:犹大公然在其他门徒面前出卖耶稣,忠于耶稣的门徒也同时背离他(参太26:56)。这群门徒将要经历严峻的考验,才能转变为满有能力的领袖。

吓得后退?耶稣那么温柔,不会是他吓著他们吧……
18:6 这些差役和士兵等人可能都被耶稣的勇敢或“我就是”这几个字吓呆了。耶稣这样说就是直截了当地宣称自己就是神(参出3:14)。或许他们是被耶稣这掩盖不住的权威压倒了。

彼得想凭己力救耶稣,所以他动了手;有时我们也想靠自己……
18:10-11 彼得想保护耶稣,所以拔出佩刀,砍伤了一名差役,但耶稣叫他把刀收入鞘中,让神的计划继续进行。有时候我们会情不自禁地靠自己的能力处事,强使事情尽如己意。试想想,如果彼得能成功地凭己意保护耶稣,那么,神的救赎计划就受到阻挠,所以我们应当对神的计划有信心。
耶稣的“杯”是……
18:11 “杯”是指耶稣为赎世人的罪而将要忍受的苦楚、与神隔绝和死亡。

那些宗教领袖干吗那么心急,迟一点审耶稣都不成吗?
18:12-13 纵使当时已是深夜,耶稣还是立刻被带到大祭司的府第,因为那些宗教领袖希望在安息日以前把耶稣处决了,好不影响之后逾越节的庆祝活动。大祭司的府第内有一个庭院,仆人和差役可以在这儿生火取暖(18:18)。

亚拿和该亚法为一己私欲,连神所托付的也忘了;你不会忘了吧……
18:13 亚那和该亚法都是大祭司。公元6至15年由亚那作大祭司,后来罗马统治者废了他,委任他的女婿该亚法作大祭司(公元18-36/37年)。根据犹太人的律法,大祭司是终生的,所以当时很多犹太人仍然以亚那为大祭司,并以这称号称呼他。虽然他在犹太人中仍有很大的权力,但最后的决定权仍然在该亚法的手里。
亚那和该亚法都是犹太人的宗教领袖和属灵领袖,他们应该明白神的启示,早就知道耶稣就是经上所说的弥赛亚,本应该带领百姓来归耶稣,可惜,他们只顾自己政治上的野心,连他们带领百姓认识神的本分也扔了,反而千方百计排除异己,为满足私欲,不择手段,甚至不惜杀害神的儿子。

除了彼得,还有谁跟著到大祭司那里去?
18:15-16 另一个门徒可能就是这部福音书的作者约翰,他认识大祭司,向看门的使女表明身分,就能领彼得进入院子里,但彼得拒绝承认自己是耶稣的门徒。彼得在其后数小时的经历将改变他的一生。

没有公平的审讯,耶稣也捱过去;换了你,受了怨屈你会……
18:19-24 耶稣当晚先经过两次私审,然后才被押到犹太公会(参可14:53-56)。这些宗教领袖知道自己没有充分理由控告耶稣,所以想鹝造证据诬告他(参可14:55-59)。

别人不爱主,你感到愤愤不平,是吗?你可有为自己曾使主痛心而愤愤不平?
18:22-27 对于犹太公会不公义审判耶稣,我们很容易感到愤愤不平,但彼得和其他门徒也有分使耶稣痛心,他们背离他,不认他(参太26:56-75)。纵使我们多数不至于像那些宗教领袖,但在生活某些方面或鉴于某些压力下,我们都可能像这些门徒一样,不认基督为我们的主。因此切勿指著别人看似更严重的罪而替自己找藉口,相反,要来到耶稣面前,恳求他的赦免和医治。

18:27 耶稣在彼得承诺永不背弃他时所说的预言应验了(参13:38;可14:31)。

犹太人虔诚守洁?不进外邦门,心里却密谋杀人……
18:28 根据犹太律法,犹太人若进入外邦人的家便会令自己在礼仪上不洁,直到“洁净”以前都不能在圣殿敬拜或守节。这些人怕因不洁而不能吃逾越节筵席,把耶稣带到彼拉多家去后,只站在外面不敢进去。他们正心怀鬼胎,密谋杀人,但外表上仍佯装敬虔,谨守著宗教礼仪的规矩。

罗马官长彼拉多,他的名字你听过?他的事情你可知?
18:29 公元26至36年彼拉多当罗马政府驻犹太地区的巡抚,耶路撒冷就在他的管辖区内。因为他曾掳掠圣殿的财物去建造输水道,犹太人很不欢迎他;他也不喜欢犹太人。但当犹太人的主耶稣站在他面前时,他却查不出他有甚么罪(18:38)。

宗教领袖想利用彼拉多定耶稣的罪,他们不可以自己定吗?
18:30 宗教领袖无权把耶稣判死刑,因为只有罗马政府才有判死刑的权力。彼拉多知道宗教领袖憎恨耶稣,也知道跟著会发生甚么事,却不想代他们任刽子手,他也认为证据不足,拒绝判耶稣有罪。耶稣的性命就成为政治斗争的棋子。

彼拉多想别人代他决定对耶稣的态度,你想对待耶稣可以这样吗?
18:31-19:16 彼拉多尝试用四种方法处理耶稣这宗案件:(1)企图把责任推到别人身上(18:31);(2)试图找方法逃避,让自己可以释放耶稣(18:39);(3)尝试妥协,只鞭打耶稣,而不把他处死(19:1-3);(4)尝试唤起指控人的同情心(19:15)。每个人都有责任决定自己对耶稣抱甚么态度,彼拉多却希望让其他人替自己决定,结果他失败了。

18:32 钉十字架通常是处决非罗马人罪犯的刑罚(参太20:19)。

牌上面写了“犹太人的王”,对罗马人,对犹太人而言,有不同意思,你可知道?
18:34 彼拉多倘若以罗马巡抚身分提出这个问题,便是问耶稣,他是否正在组织势力反对政府,但犹太人以“王”的称号来称呼他们的弥赛亚。以色列已被罗马帝国统治,敌对的王会威胁到罗马政府,但弥赛亚则可以纯粹指宗教领袖而言。

你猜彼拉多明白耶稣所说的吗?那他是信了?不信?
18:36-37 彼拉多直截了当地问耶稣,耶稣也给他清楚的答覆,他是王,但他的国不属于这个世界。彼拉多看似毫不怀疑耶稣所说的是真的,且相信他是清白无罪的,但他显然一方面知道这个真理,另一方面却拒绝接受。不认识真理固然不幸,但若认识真理而不去接受,则更可悲。

人看真理都是相对的,你可知道为甚么?我们又如何认定真理?
18:38 彼拉多可能认为所有真理都是相对的。对很多政府官员来说,大部分人赞同的,或者有助他们建立个人权力、让他们在政治上跃升的就是真理。如果没有真理的基础,就没有道德的对错,也没有公义。在耶稣和他的话中,我们得到真理和道德的标准。

人民英雄是巴拉巴?我就不拣选他,我心中的英雄嘛……
18:40 巴拉巴是谋反对抗罗马的暴徒,虽然他曾杀过人,却可能是犹太人心中的英雄。犹太人不满受罗马统治,更怨恨要缴纳税项给他们所鄙视的政府。巴拉巴曾统领叛变,但其后失败,却可获得释放,而惟一能拯救以色列的耶稣却不得释放。
